Blue Christmas

Winter is officially upon us and we've been dumped on with lots of snow and slush! While most people around the world get excited for snow, I'm not the biggest fan. I like to admire it from a distance (like from inside my warm house!) When it comes to trekking out into the cold, wet snow, count me out! It also makes it especially hard to figure out what to wear.

As weird as it may be, I always plan and think about my outfits in advance for special events and occasions - Christmas is no exception. Anyone else do this? I guess it's because since I was a child, I was brought up always having something "special" to wear on Christmas and I've carried it into my adulthood. After spotting the perfect blue wall in our neighbourhood, I thought I'd take the opportunity to "test drive" a potential outfit for Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas day!
Jacket: Zara (past season) | Shirt: Zara | Jeans: Levi's | Boots: Old Navy | Purse: H&M (old) | Earrings: Fresh Tangerine

While I'm still undecided on my Christmas outfit, I'm excited to play around and see what will become my "special" look for this year's festivities! I also may go with something less weather appropriate seeing as all celebrations will be done in the comfort of a cozy, warm home and not the cold slushy snow!

Weekly snaps

Another week gone in a flash and to think Christmas is just a week away is crrrraaaazzzzy! Of course this past week has been filled lots more holiday cheer and some relaxation. I pretty much had all of my Christmas shopping done early (thanks to the Internet!) but we did do some running around Toronto to pickup some last minute items. We enjoy a very snowy Sunday shopping, eating and coming home to relax with some Christmas movies. All week we've been watching all our favourite Christmas movies and I can't get enough of it, I'm watching ELF for the second time this weekend! Ruben has been busy running errands of his own, which has given me time to wrap all his presents and get everything nestled under the tree! What plans do you have this last week leading up to Christmas?

*It's Christmas time, in the city!* Can't seem to get that lyric out of my head as I wonder about Toronto and feel overwhelmed by the festive feeling of Christmas, and I love it so much! I took the above photo at the Toronto Christmas Market a few weeks ago when we went to visit and it was so much fun, as always. Christmas Cheer playlist!

(Photo via Instagram)

OMG!!! I cannot believe there's only 10 days until Christmas; this is madness! I am a huge lover of all things Christmas and when it comes to the Christmas movies and music - it's all I want in December. If we're listening to records - I want to spin all our Christmas albums over and over again (sorry Ruben) I just cannot get enough of it! It's the only time of year you can really get away with it, so why not soak it all in?! I think Ruben's past the point of annoyed when it comes to me singing and putting on Christmas tunes, but there's only a few weeks left so suck it up Ruben! From the classics to the reinvented, I curated this playlist with all my favourite Christmas songs. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing - I hope this playlist helps to add some Christmas Cheer to your day :) ENJOY!!!

Weekly snaps

It's been a while but weekly snaps are BACK! I've been really getting into the Christmas spirit as of lately, so that gives me more reason to take photos and snap things to share with you all. This past week seriously went by in a flash (as has this whole YEAR!) but I've been enjoying every moment of it. Ruben and I checked out the Toronto Christmas Market (an annual tradition for us), attended some Christmas parties, went out for dinner to some of our favourite places and spent time with family. It really is the most wonderful time of the year - I wish I could just slow down time and soak it all in. Being our first Christmas in our new place, we've really had a lot of fun decorating and making it feel so happy and cozy for the Christmas season. The tree is up, we've made an advent calendar and all our Christmas records are out and played on repeat. What's your favourite Christmas tradition?

Tis the Season!

And just like that it's December...(OMG) The final month of the year and the best time of the year, in my opinion! As long as I can remember I've always been a HUGE fan of Christmas and the holiday season. Everything about it always makes me so excited and giddy - the music, the decorations, buying presents, I love it all! I've compiled a to-do list with the most fun and Christmas-y things to do in and around Toronto, and our first home together!

  • - make home made sugar cookies and decorate them
  • - build a gingerbread house
  • - have a Christmas movie marathon!
  • - listen to all our Christmas albums (and sing along)
  • - decorate the tree and the house
  • - cozy up with candy cane hot chocolate
  • - take a walk around our neighbourhood and see the Christmas lights
  • - wrap presents
  • - put up Christmas lights
  • - make ornaments
  • - visit the Magical Lights of Milton house
  • - check out the Christmas Market at the Distillery District
  • - host (or attend) an ugly Christmas sweater party

That's all I got for now, but I know I'll be adding to my list as ideas come to me. What are some things on your Holiday to-do list?!
