Halloweekend links

(Photo via Instagram)

OMG! Can you please it's already Halloween?! It totally crept up on us out of no where and I can't say I'm 100% ready. Usually every year I have a pretty good sense of what I'll be or what I'll paint my face, but this year I haven't a clue! Here's a throwback to a few years ago when I painted my face to look like a Roy Lichtenstein painting. I always have so much fun painting my face for Halloween and challenging myself. Here are some links I wanted to share that I've stumbled upon over the past week, to get you in the spirit for Halloween and ready for the spooky times ahead!

Sweater weather

Now that it's officially Fall I have come to terms with the fact that I'll be needing to wear tights and sweaters more frequently. When Fall came around I was pretty excited for the return of sweater weather, especially since the transition has been so nice here in Canada with warmer than usual temperatures for Fall! There's something about the changing seasons that make me feel the need to pickup a few staple pieces to add to my closet rotation (just another excuse to shop I guess haha) I recently picked up this grey marl sweater from Old Navy and I'm loving it! It's the perfect light, cozy sweater that will keep you warm and match just about any outfit. It also comes in a beautiful, happy pink colourwhich is tempting me...

I also picked up these awesome faux-leather pointy booties which I'm absolutely obsessed with! You can never have too many black booties, right? At first I was unsure of these because I felt like they made my feet look huge, but I grew to really like them and how they complete an outfit. They are super comfortable and affordable too! They also come in a dark gray suede which again, is very tempting! Oh Canada, please don't get cold too quickly - I'm not ready for all the layers yet, let's take this a step at a time - starting with sweater weather <3

Stay gold

My favourite trend this year has definitely been metallic - clothes, nails, accessories and more! I'm instantly drawn to anything shiny, whether it's gold, silver, sparkle or even holographic. It's such a fun way to stand out and make your outfit that much more memorable. I always love to add gold accessories and jewelry to my outfit when I can- there's something so elegant and classy that I love about gold rings and dainty pieces.
My number one go to for beautifully delicate pieces of jewelry has always been Fresh Tangerine. All of their jewelry is carefully crafted and hand made using 14k gold and sterling silver in a studio space in Seattle.

Not only are all of the pieces so beautiful and easy to wear, but they are super affordable and a lasting investment. I love how versatile the rings are; you can stack them or spread them out on your fingers depending on your mood. I'm also wearing the midi knuckle hammered stacking ring (which you can't see in this photo) People often ask me if I get annoyed of having a midi ring on my finger or if it falls off, but I never even realize it's there! And I love the look of it with all my other rings spread out.

They recently launched their new collection - metamorphosis which I would highly recommend checking out! All of the pieces for this new line are stunning - I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy next; I want it all!!! I especially love the geode hoops and ellipse necklace. What are your favourite pieces from the new collection? Are you more of a silver or gold kinda gal? Leave me a comment - I'd love to know which side you're on!

Weekly snaps

It's been a while since I posted any weekly snaps and I'm not proud of it! Let's be real, lately our weeks have consisted of cleaning our apartment and furniture shopping so that's not the most exciting thing to take photos of or share. This past week was Thanksgiving, which made for lots of yummy food, family time and a short work week so no complaints here! On Thursday we got to go to the Wayhome Rewind dance party, which was essentially a screening of a short film highlighting the Wayhome Music and Arts festival we attended this past Summer. It brought back so many great memories and totally gave me chills the whole time. They also had DJ Windows 98 (a.k.a Win Butler of Arcade Fire) doing a DJ set which was probably the most fun I've ever had on a Thursday! We danced all night, had a very sleepy Friday at work and then went out for a delicious pizza date night at Son of a Peach (new fav. pizza spot!) We spent the weekend hanging out with my brothers and sister in laws while drinking wine and having a good time. I wish all weeks were as short as this past one, and as fun but I've got lots to look forward to in the coming weeks and I hope to share and prepare more posts, too!

weekend links 05

(Photo via Instagram)

YAY!!! We made it to Friday and that is certainly something to celebrate. It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada which means long weekend, turkey, and good times spent with family. Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays and I am so looking forward to hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weekend surrounded by the people I love. Now that it's October, I'm totally in the Halloween spirit so I'm sharing some of my favourite Halloween related links. Enjoy and have an amazing weekend, friends!

Seasons change

Hello and Happy October friends! I'm so sorry I've been very MIA lately - these last few weeks have been super busy and hectic for us as we've just moved out! Our days have primarily consisted of packing, cleaning and unpacking so it hasn't left much time to plan and do stuff for the blog. I found a moment of relaxation last night to sit down and start to plan and plot all the fun things I want to do this Fall season!
  • - go apple picking
  • - visit the pumpkin patch and pick out a few pumpkins (1 ghost pumpkin for sure!)
  • - carve a Jack o'lantern
  • - roast pumpkin seeds
  • - bake my first ever apple pie!
  • - host an Autumn inspired DIY night
  • - binge watch Halloween movies
  • - eat lots of candy while watching said Halloween movies
  • - go to the Fall Festival at Springridge Farms
  • - take a hike and see the changing leaves
  • - decorate the house for Halloween
  • - enjoy Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by Family
  • - visit a haunted house or Halloween Haunt at Wonderland
  • - run through a corn maze or corn field
  • - bake Pillsbury Halloween cookies!
  • - put together some Fall inspired OOTD looks
  • - read at least 3 books
Here is my list thus far, I'm sure I'll add to it as time goes on but I'm really looking forward to crossing things off of it and celebrating the Autumnal Equinox! What are you most looking forward to about the changing season?
