One of my "beauty" New Years resolutions this year was to wear more lipstick, and I'm proud to say I have achieved my goal! FUN FACT: I graduated from college with a diploma in Cosmetic Techniques and Management, so technically I am a certified makeup artist! (Although I don't currently work in the field) More on that another time..
Anyways! I always considered myself more of a lip balm kind of gal, despite my background in makeup, but I often felt my look was incomplete. I wore lipstick mostly only on occasion or when I worked at Aveda, so not everyday. As I mentioned, it was my goal to wear it more often and now I find myself putting it on everyday before work! Here are some of my favourite lipsticks I have been wearing on rotation all summer long. I find these colours super fun and versatile and I hope you do too!
1. MAC Vegas Volt - I love this colour for summer - it's the perfect subtle coral that isn't too bright and in your face but adds a nice pop of colour to brighten your look. It's one of the amplified creme shades from MAC so the formula isn't drying and feels really nice on the lips.
2. AVEDA Magenta Berry (similar) - this one is from a past seasonal collection, so I'm not sure if it is still available in stores, but they have a lot of beautiful colours that are similar! Call me biased, but I LOVE AVEDA lipsticks! They are super moisturizing and well pigmented for a botanically based product. This colour is a gorgeous fuchsia with some shine.
3. Marc Jacobs Dashing - One of my favourites (and most luxurious), this classic red is a go-to colour! It is a true blue-red lipstick so it's perfect for fair skinned individuals, like myself. Again, it feels really good on the lips, doesn't dry them out and has great staying power.
4. Sephora 08 Whipped Blush - I'll admit it, this vibrant pink colour was a little outside my comfort zone at first, but it's grown on me. It's super happy and bright! I usually wear it when I'm going out and need that nice *POP* of colour to complete my look. Even though this is a matte formula, it's not as drying as I would've expected and it lasts on the lips throughout the day. (BONUS: it's super affordable!)
I hope you enjoyed this post on my favourite summer lipstick shades, I had a lot of fun putting it together. I plan to do more beauty based posts soon so if you have any recommendations or ideas for what you would like to see, please leave me a comment or send me an email!
