Weekly snaps

This past week went by incredibly fast! Ruben and I enjoyed Monday off exploring the city and having lunch at Wilbur Mexicana (best tacos!) I also did a lot planning and prepping this week for some upcoming projects that I'm really excited to share! Stay tuned. I can't believe it's already the last day of July and we're heading into August - seriously where is the summer going?! I'm doing my best to continue to cross things off my summer to-do list and am making the most of the season - looking forward to what August brings!

Happy Friday everyone! Wow did this week ever go by fast. It helped that I had Monday off so it was a shorter work week than usually, and now I have another long weekend ahead of me with Monday being a civic holiday in Canada - woooooo wooo! It's that time again to share more links that I've been loving as I've stumbled upon them this past week. Cheers and have a great weekend!

Denim colour hunt

ASOS dress | converse | quay sunglasses | heart purse from Indigo (old)

The other day Ruben and I had some time off work so we decided to head into the city for lunch and to hunt for some colour! We both had a lot of fun running from neighbourhood to neighbourhood searching for different coloured back drops, and he was such a good sport about it. A+ Instagram husband ;) Opportunities like this are so nice because we've both been having a lot of fun growing creatively behind the lens, and it gives me the chance to practice and hone my photo editing skills - win win! I'm also trying to learn not to be so awkward in front of the camera! Is it working? LOL

I'm really digging the denim look lately and can't help myself when I find a good denim dress. I love this one because I can dress it up with tights and heels, or dress it down with a pair of sneakers. Bonus points because it's super comfortable, too!

Weekend snaps: WAYHOME

While I had no weekly snaps to share due to the busy week I had previous, I thought it'd be fun to share a couple of snaps from this past weekend at Wayhome! It went by so fast but it was so incredibly fun and I'm glad I got to share the experience with my most favourite people. We went as a group of eight - my brothers and their significant others + Ruben and myself and it was perfect - endless laughs and great memories were made. I got to see LCD Soundsystem for the first time ever, which was nothing short of amazing. Although I didn't get to see The Killers due to unforeseen circumstances, I got to see my favourite band for the third time - Arcade Fire! I was totally blown away by the whole organization of the festival and all the attention to beauty and detail that was put into it. Can't wait to see what next year's festival has in store!

Friday playlist: WAYHOME edition

Hello! Sorry I've been a little MIA this week, as mentioned on instagram I've had a really busy week and have hardly been home because we're selling our house (SOLD) and have had lots of people coming in and out for showings. But now it's FRIDAY and it's finally here, what I've been waiting for all summer - WAYHOME 2016! Two things I really love and enjoy are good music + great music festivals - throw camping into the mix and it'll make for fun times I'm sure. I put together a little playlist of artists whom I really love and am so ecstatic to see live. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Follow me on IG (@blytheivory) or Snapchat (blytheivory) for all of the excitement!!!

National ice cream day!

Outfit details: h&m top (old)  | zara skirt | saltwater sandals | peekaboo clutch | quay sunglasses

I have to say, ice cream is undoubtably one of my favourite indulgences, so any excuse to celebrate it is a-ok with me! There are countless shops in Toronto serving up delicious and out of this world ice cream concoctions and flavours, which make the summer time treat even more fun and exciting. If you ever find yourself wandering the city in search of this cold treat, here are a few of my favourite places to check out.

Sweet Jesus - I recommend 'Krusty the cone' (cotton candy + ice cream? come on!)

Bang Bang icecream - cookie sandwiches, bubble waffle cones, cinnamon roll ice cream
sandwich?! the options and flavours are endless here

Eds real scoop - the burnt marshmallow is my favourite

Seven lives paleteria - a variety of different forms and great vegan options too!

Arctic Bites - the newest trend in ice cream: rolled! looks delicious, doesn't it?

Have yourself a wonderful national ice cream day and enjoy a scoop or two for me!

fun in the sun

Hands down summer is my favourite season! There's so much going on in and around the city this time of year and lots of things to see and do. Last summer I missed out on doing a lot of my favourite things because we were travelling abroad majority of summer. Being home for the summer this year, I am so excited to make a list of things to-do and fill my summer 2016 with as many memorable moments as possible! I was inspired by my friend Jules, to 'design my summer' and create a to-do list. I have already crossed a few things off my list (considering we're almost halfway through July - ahhh!)
  • - hangout at the Toronto Island
  • - go to Canada's Wonderland and ride lots of roller coasters!
  • - spend the day in Kensington Market
  • - have a picnic at Trinity Bellwoods
  • - visit the Toronto Flower Market
  • - go to a Blue Jay's baseball game
  • - hunt for treasures at the Antique Market
  • - catch a double feature at the drive in
  • - visit a beach
  • - go to the CNE
  • - see some of my favourite bands at a Music festival (Wayhome next week -eeeee!!)
  • - dance in the rain
  • - tie dye t-shirts (Ruben and I did this on one of our first dates over 6 years ago!)
  • - go hiking
  • - strawberry picking
  • - have a water balloon fight
  • - take a road trip
  • - eat LOTS of ice cream (ice cream crawl, anyone?)
  • - read at least 3 books
  • - go on a wine tour with my best girls
  • - lounge on pool floats
  • - toast marshmallows on an open fire
  • - visit the Club Monaco Market
  • - throw a party!

Looking forward to the next few weeks of fun while I continue to cross things off my list! What kinds of fun, crazy or cool things are you up to this summer? I'd love to hear about them (and possibly add more to my list hehe) leave me a comment below.

around Toronto: Kensington Market

Last Monday my brother Alex, Ruben and I had the day off work and decided to take advantage of the beautiful summer day to hit up Kensington Market for lunch, dessert and to checkout some shops. It's such a fun neighbourhood in Toronto - there's so much to see and do with tons of diversity and culture at every corner. When it comes to dining and shopping the options are endless! You can find almost any delicacy from anywhere in the world before you head into the sea of vintage shops.

We had lunch at Torteria San Cosme - where the food and drinks were delicious and the environment even better! The aesthetic of this place was so fun and appealing with all it's colour and beautifully tiled floors. My brother and I shared a Cubana sandwich which was SO good we probably could've each had our own. Ruben went with the Pepito. I can't wait to go back and try the churros and and corn on the cob *drools*

Walking down Kensington Ave. you will find yourself weaving in and out of vintage clothing shops with countless one-of-a-kind pieces that are hard to resist. If I had it my way, I probably would've left that day with bags of clothes! It's so hard to not want everything you find.

Looking for a sweet treat post shopping? Head to Seven Lives Paleteria where you can get paletas, ice cream and my favourite - DOLE WHIP!! Yes, Dole Whip - that sweet treat you get a Disneyland that is almost impossible to find anywhere else. This candy coloured parlor is almost as enjoyable as the products themselves.

I had so much fun walking around Kensington and making this mini guide to some of my favourite spots within the neighbourhood, can't wait to show you more next time!
